I already own the Sony SRS-X5 speaker which I rate 4 1/2 stars, though very pleased with that speaker was disappointed that when not plugged in and working on battery power, it puts out only 8 watts of power instead of the full 20! I accidentally found the SRS-X5's baby brother, the SRS-X3 on June 29th at a Target store, Despite costing $50 less, being half the size of the X5 and lacking a couple of features, it nearly sounds just as good, but the reason I'm giving it 5 stars is that it has its full 20 watt power, plugged in or not! It does not have a subwoofer like the X5, but when listening to most music you can hardly tell the difference! Its more portable than the X5 and has basically the same build quality as the X5 (the X5 has glass touch buttons and faux aluminum sides, the X3 has physical rubber touch buttons and rubber sides, plus as an added bonus, it charges off of USB unlike the X5's proprietary charger!) I personally think this speaker is the one really meant to compete against the Bose Soundlink Mini!

Both are great speakers, but do yourself a favor, test both speakers plugged in and unplugged, also test the X3 against the Bose Soundlink Mini also (I think the Bose's Mids are slightly better, but the X3 has better bass and for $50 less, I'd go with the X3). I'm very happy with my purchase!
